I was hungry and you fed me, thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you received
me into your homes, naked and you clothed me.
Matthew 25:35

Matthew 25 is the Outreach Ministry of Faith Lutheran Church. Their mission is to invite all members to fulfill the words of Our Lord to seek out those in need of loving ministry and then to minster them for Our Lord.

Dear Children, Let us not love with words or tongue, but with actions and truth. I John 3:18

Family Promise of Greater Des Moines

Greater Des Moines Logo websiteAs a host congregation of Family Promise of Greater Des Moines (formly IHN), Faith Lutheran Church hosts three to five families for one week every three months in a facility that we call the "Gathering House". In this capacity, Faith furnishes clean, safe overnight housing and meals for the families who stay with us.

Guest families are transported from the host congregation site to a day center where shower, laundry and social assistance is available to the families who turn to the Family Promise of Des Moines for assistance during tough times.

To learn more about Family Promise of Des Moines, visit their website at www.familypromisedm.org.

Four times a year, our congregation hosts homeless families for a week at the Gathering House as part of the community-wide Family Promise program. Matthew 25 works with volunteers to prepare the Gathering House for our guests, prepare meals, serve as overnight caretakers and when the week is over prepare the Gathering House for its other uses.

Mosaic in Des Moines and Faith Lutheran Church

The Mosaic family Mosaic Logo webin Des Moines has expressed how grateful they are for their partnership with Faith Lutheran Church. Through a combination of regular services and monthly Learn, Laugh and Lunch events hosted by Faith, several Mosaic individuals and staff have come to call Faith Lutheran Church home for their spiritual needs.

Mosaic also had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the Vacation Bible Camp at Faith and educate participants about adults with intellectual disabilities and the full lives they are able to lead through our services and support from community partners like Faith Lutheran.

Each year, fourth graders at Faith put their Service Focus on Mosaic—in 2013, they raised funds that allowed 25 Mosaic individuals and staff to enjoy a free I-Cubs game from the comfort of a deluxe, air-conditioned suite! This rare treat coincided with Mosaic's 100th birthday and was one that could not have been realized without the relationship of Faith Lutheran Church and Mosaic. They look forward to more opportunities to collaborate in the future!

  Mosaic Christmas Project

Faith conducts an annual gift drive for the residents of the original group homes.

Faith is one of the 45 congregations and organizations in greater Des Moines that take responsibility for providing, preparing, and serving the evening meals. In addition to those working to prepare the meals, it takes around six people to serve and clean up each evening. For more information, click here.

 Ministry through Luther Park Auxiliary

Faith members have the opportunity to interface with and serve the residents of Luther Park, an affordable living center with lifestyle services for active adults who are 62 years of age and older. A variety of opportunities are available throughout the year.

  Fair Exchange Ministry

Faith works with the Lutheran World Relief Fair Trade Coffee Project toensure that more of the money spent on coffee reaches the farmers who actually grow it.  Fair trade coffee is a simple solution that means the difference—quite literally—between surviving and not surviving for small-scale coffee farmers.
