Other Opportunities
In addition to the Sunday morning adult discovery classes and Wednesday evening Faith Night adult education classes, Faith also offers the following opportunities for adult education.
Lenten Brown Bag Bible Study
The six-week Lenten Brown Bag Bible Study begins on Ash Wednesday, February 21, from noon to 1:00 p.m. in St. Michael's Hall. The resource book used for the study will be John: The Maverick Gospel by Robert Kysar. Those who attend should bring a lunch. Coffee and water will be provided. Kysar argues, "that the religious thought of the Gospel of John is different from that of other New Testament literature." His book reflects the current state of Johannine scholarship. He looks at the literary features of the plot line of the Gospel and the Johannine passion story. Kysar's book will be available for purchase at the class.
Lenten Internet Bible Study
Pastor Diana Sickles will lead a weekly Lenten Bible study based on the Gospel of John. The study will be available via the Faith website. The study is written so it can be used as a devotional for a week. Each week's study will lift up one particular theme, suggest a thought for the week based on the reading, and offer a prayer. Participants will gain information about the Gospel of John in a few minutes that will nurture faith. It is designed for the busy lives of members who still want to have their daily lives informed by scripture. The study will be available on Ash Wednesday, February 21, and will continue weekly through March 28.
