Outreach/Other Opportunities
Ministry through Catholic Worker House
Faith provides food and servers for a monthly meal at the CWH facility during the school year. We have recently expanded our CWH ministry to include the collection of items that at often needed by the center’s clients; such as soap, socks and toothbrushes.
Ministry through La Voz Latino Congregation
Faith provides financial support, expertise and some staffing to help a Des Moines based Latino congregation and its pastors.
Home Together Project
Congregations of conferences 10 and 11 of the ELCA’s Southeastern Iowa Synod are making HomeTogether come alive. We’re working with each other in common mission to refresh the physical property of St. Joseph’s Emergency Shelter and St. Paul’s AME Church, two facilities in greater Des Moines that provide shelter services to homeless families.
Kifula Shared Ministry
Kifula Lutheran Parish and Faith Lutheran Church have entered into a relationship of shared ministry of imani moja—one faith. We have shared our life and culture with Kifula through correspondence, pictures, and visits.
Fair Exchange Ministry
Faith works with the LWR Fair Trade Coffee Project to ensure that more of the money spent on coffee reaches the farmers who actually grow it. Fair trade coffee is a simple solution that means the difference—quite literally—between surviving and not surviving for small-scale coffee farmers.
Interfaith Hospitality Network
As a member of IHN, Faith serves as host congregation furnishing clean, safe, overnight lodging and nutritious meals for three to five families for one week every three months. Guest families are transported to/from the host congregation to a day center where shower, laundry, and social service assistance is provided.
